Procrastination is like a criminal that keeps breaking out of a ultra high defense federal prison to attack you.
Procrastination has no sense of morality or emotion.
Procrastination is both a sociopath and a psychopath simultaneously whose only purpose in existence is to rob you of your life force, ambition, and energy.
Out of all the malevolent forces, I’ve had to tackle in my life procrastination is one of the worst if not thee worst.
When I was young I was diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder and severe anxiety at the same time.
And, later on I was diagnosed with Dermatillomania, which is a mental health condition where a person compulsively picks or scratches their skin, causing injuries or scarring due to anxiety.
Meaning when I’m anxious my mind will start trying to peel my lips as a coping mechanism for whatever high stress environment I’m in.
So pretty much my entire life I’ve been in constant battle against the agents of chaos.
My mind is constantly under siege from malicious entities who seek to deconstruct my mind and soul so that I may become nothing and do nothing with my life.
And, after countless battles learned and won here are 5 ways to protect your psyche and soul from these malicious agents of chaos who seek to destroy you.
The teachings of the Tao Te Ching, penned by the sage Lao Tzu, provide valuable insights on embracing the natural flow of life, cultivating harmony, and finding balance within ourselves.
It is through understanding and embodying these principles that we can effectively combat procrastination and live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

1. Practice Non-Action (Wu Wei)

In the heart of the Tao Te Ching, lies the concept of non-action or "Wu Wei," a principle often shrouded in mystery and paradox.
Though it may appear counterintuitive, especially when confronting the siren call of procrastination, Wu Wei does not advocate passivity or surrender.
Instead, it embodies the art of effortless action, flowing gracefully with life's currents and aligning oneself with its intrinsic rhythm.
Like water meandering through the valley, embracing the path of least resistance, Wu Wei urges us to relinquish our insistence on control and abandon the constraints of ego.
By recognizing the futility of force, we can attune ourselves to the natural world and harmonize our actions with its gentle, unforced guidance.
To cultivate the wisdom of Wu Wei, observe the subtleties of your inner landscape, discerning between the compulsive drive to act and the genuine spark of inspiration.
Cease to rely on the rigid dictates of willpower, and instead, nurture the seeds of spontaneity and intuition that flourish within your soul.
In doing so, you will discover that your actions become more fluid, enjoyable, and imbued with a sense of grace, enabling you to transcend the snare of procrastination with ease.
As you immerse yourself in the ancient teachings of Lao Tzu and the timeless wisdom of the Tao, let the virtues of simplicity, humility, and non-action guide you on your journey towards a life of purpose and enlightenment.

2. Just Breathe, Breathe, Breathe

In the sacred wisdom of the Tao Te Ching, the ancient sage Lao Tzu reminds us that the essence of our existence lies in the subtle art of balance, harmony, and unity with the natural world.
To truly grasp this profound understanding, one must delve into the depths of the interconnectedness of all things and embrace the virtues of simplicity, humility, and non-action.
Breathing, like the gentle caress of a mountain breeze, is a reflection of the effortless ebb and flow of life.
Governed by the unseen forces of the autonomic nervous system, our inhalations and exhalations occur without conscious thought - a gift that allows us respite from constant attention.
The oxygen we breathe fuels our cells, nourishing our bodies with life-giving energy, guided by the dance of molecules and the wisdom of nature's design.
As we embark on this journey of self-discovery, let us explore the teachings of the revered Wim Hof, who has cultivated a unique breathing technique that harnesses the innate power of our breath to invigorate our spirits and harmonize our inner and outer worlds.
This practice, akin to the Taoist principles, brings balance, serenity, and enlightenment to our lives.

Begin by finding a sanctuary of stillness, free from distractions, where you may sit or lie down in complete ease.
Allow your body to be unencumbered, inviting the expansion of your lungs as you prepare to delve into the sacred practice of breath.
As you close your eyes, let your mind be still, like the surface of a tranquil pond, and connect deeply with your breath. Inhale with intention, filling your lungs through your nose or mouth, and exhale gently without force.
This cycle of breath, akin to the rhythm of the tides, should be repeated 30 to 40 times, a dance of life that may evoke sensations of light-headedness and tingling, whispers of the Tao's infinite wisdom.
Upon completing this breathwork, draw in one final, deep inhalation, and release the air from your lungs.
Embrace the stillness, as you hold your breath, surrendering to the natural rhythm of your body's wisdom, until the desire to breathe beckons you once more.
At this moment, take a full, expansive breath, filling your lungs with the essence of life.
Hold this sacred air within you for a brief pause, about 15 seconds, before releasing it back into the world.
This marks the completion of one cycle, a journey that may be repeated three or four times, as you find yourself enveloped in a state of blissful serenity.
In this tranquil space, let your soul be nourished by the timeless teachings of the Tao Te Ching, as you merge your breathwork practice with the art of meditation.
Allow the ancient wisdom of Lao Tzu to guide you on the path to a meaningful and enlightened life, as you embrace the harmony, balance, and interconnectedness of all things.

In the ever-changing dance of life, we witness remarkable feats of human potential, as if guided by an unseen hand.

Ancient wisdom found in the Tao Te Ching speaks of the harmony within the natural world, where all things coalesce in a delicate balance.
In our modern age of constant distraction, how might we apply the teachings of Lao Tzu to help us conquer procrastination and anxiety?
To achieve a state of flow, one must cultivate six essential elements:
  1. Focus solely on the present moment
  1. Merge action and awareness into a seamless whole
  1. Eliminate self-doubt and hesitation
  1. Assert control over the situation
  1. Perceive time in a new light
  1. Find intrinsic reward in the activity itself
By embodying these principles, we become one with the task at hand, and our performance soars to new heights.

To cultivate this flow state, consider these three lessons drawn from the eternal wisdom of the Tao:
  1. Challenge yourself, but maintain balance: Take on tasks that stretch your abilities, yet remain within the realm of the achievable. This delicate balance encourages growth and adaptability, fostering comfort in discomfort.
  1. Align with your natural rhythm: Recognize your most productive and alert times of day and engage in complex tasks during these periods. This alignment allows you to harness the full power of your energy and focus.
  1. Minimize distractions and focus on the present: Devote your undivided attention to the task at hand, eliminating the influence of external distractions. This level of focus anchors you in the present moment, allowing the flow state to emerge.
The flow state emerges when we are deeply motivated and engaged in activities that align with our passions, purpose, autonomy, and mastery.
As we follow the path of curiosity and passion, we discover our purpose and seek the freedom to pursue it.
With this freedom, we strive for mastery, refining our skills and expertise.
By embracing activities that truly resonate with our inner selves and focusing on them wholeheartedly, we can unlock the power of the flow state, enhancing productivity and success in all aspects of life.
As the Tao Te Ching teaches us, it is through harmony with the natural order of things that we can achieve our highest potential.
In embracing these timeless principles, we discover that we are all capable of far more than we ever imagined.
